We’ve just completed our latest tosai harvest here at Byer Koi Farm, and we’re genuinely excited about what we’re seeing. Last year’s spawnings have been our best yet—both in terms of quality and consistency—and that’s allowed us to do something a little different.
For the first time, we’re making some of our top-quality tosai available to customers now, instead of keeping them back to grow on over the summer and releasing them as nisai next year.
Usually, these special young koi would remain at the farm for further development, only becoming available once they reach nisai size—typically priced between £195 and £395. But thanks to ongoing improvements in our breeding and rearing techniques, we’re now producing a greater number of truly high-grade koi. That means we’re in a strong position to make a limited selection of our best tosai available early, at a price of £195.
